Cloud gaming is going to destroy the esports community, none of these games are playable at a high level with the latency these services introduce. Fighting games especially are unplayable on cloud services.
Can’t afford food, so yeah we ain’t affording gaming hardware. How is this difficult to understand?

With the wording of “revealed” it sounds like a surprise. Well the consoles are old now, both Playstation and Xbox came out 6 years ago, so lot of people who want it have it already. I mean on top of the price increases and the scarcity. So there is not a whole lot of reasons to buy new hardware, unless you really really want or need to and have the money.

This is however the part, that surprises me a little bit. I would have thought games would be sold at usual pace. The article continues talking about physical game sales fell down. I mean yes, but what about digital? So did the digital game sales fell down too or is it only about physical games? The article was not clear about that to me (I write my comment while reading). Article closes down with the note that subscriptions went up as the only category.

It wouldn’t shock me if all game purchasing declines. I know for myself, once my current hardware dies or becomes unable to play modern games, I’m just going to find a different hobby altogether. There’s no universe where I’m going to pay for cloud gaming.
Understandable. For me, Gaming isn’t just hobby; it is part of my basic life since I am a kid in the 80s. Yes, technically Gaming as a whole is luxury, but I cannot think and live without it anymore. If anything, I could always find a way to emulate old games. And there are phones capable of playing some games, if you cannot get hands on a console or gaming PC. For me there is no way I want to live a life without any sort of playing games.

I have the complete collections of everything up to N64, and more than enough of the greatest games of the PS2-era to last me multiple lifetimes. If something happens, I could easily live the rest of my life trying to finally get good at Solomon’s Key.

I’m right there with you mate. However, I long ago began playing the game of GO daily as well. If everything falls apart and I can’t play video games anymore, there will always be the GO board.
What a coincidence that you mention it! It’s like learning a new word and then seeing it everywhere, if you know what I mean. xD
I just tried GO (we speak about Chinese GO, right?) for the first time. But it is on computer. I don’t understand the rules fully yet, but was always intrigued by the game. Will read about how it works. It’s also a game where Computer Ai still isn’t at the level of humans, I think. Maybe they surpassed?
