As old as people. I bet when we crack Linear A that will be one the phrases.

Other languages have very different profanity, though.

Off the top of my head, Dutch has pretty disease-centric profanity, and Quebec French has the sacres, which are basically just things found in a church.

I mean, sex is a very common subject, and OP was probably right that (translations of) that exact phrase occurs from time to time all the way back, but it’s far from a constant.

I’m fluent in Quebec swearing. Please teach me Dutch cussing out of someone.

I know “kanker” meaning cancer is the big one. Looks like “tering” meaning tuberculosis is another example. I don’t actually speak Dutch FWIW.

English used to have “a pox on you”, but that sounds like archaic roleplay language now, rather than profane or rude.

Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Please familiarize yourself with them

                2) All posts must end with a '?'

This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?

                3) No spam

Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.

                7) No Hit-and-Run questions.

Please don’t delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It’s not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it’s not in the spirit of the community.
