Dear Americans, What does it feel like and what it means to be American?

It feels like I’m stuck on railroad tracks while tied to a bunch of other people as a high speed train is coming.

Yet no matter how much I yell about the train and tell people we need to get off the tracks, they mostly all don’t understand, nor care to understand, so they stay put.

It feels shameful and depressing. It means you involuntarily support abhorrent activity worldwide.

Embarrassing

The same to be born in any country? It’s out of our controll where we are born.

It’s a little like being an ocelot. Less fur, though.

Inflated sense of superiority with little to back it up.

A slowly metastasizing sense of guilt for what we’ve done, helplessness about what to do, dread for what’s likely to come, and jealousy for others who inhabit societies that don’t actively hate their members
