  • "The teacher stands in front of the class, but the lesson plan he can’t recall. The student’s eyes, don’t perceive the lies, bouncing off every fucking wall. His composure is well kept. I guess he fears playing the fool. The complacent students sit, and listen to the bullshit that he’d learned in school.

Europe ain’t my rope to swing on. Can’t learn a thing from it, yet we hang from it. Gotta get it, gotta get it together then, like the motherfuckin’ Weathermen."

Adding one more that speaks to me alot at the moment, even if it’s not an all time favorite:

    "All at once,

    the world can overwhelm me,

there’s almost nothing that you can tell me,

    that would ease my mind.

    Which way will you run?

When it’s allways all around you.

The feeling’s lost and found you again,

the feeling that we have no control."

  • I get that finances aren’t the best for many people, but it always makes me very sad to see that music has been undervalued to a degree where it’s not in anyway unusual to expect to get access to all music ever created for 10 dollars a month. Obviously, that means that the vast majority of artists get very little money. This has lead to a large share of the music available to stream being AI generated garbage. Because it doesn’t make sense to put in the time to create a work of art when people are just not prepared to compensate you properly.

I pirate music to see if I like it, and buy what I like, mostly on vinyl, often through Bandcamp. Despite the pirating, I pay far more than 120 dollars a year for music. That’s the price of like 3-4 albums, and I haven’t gone a year buying less than 10 albums. And that’s excluding all the gigs that I go to. Music is valuable to me, and I still have the first album I bought in 1992, and everything thereafter. It’s an awesome experience rediscovering stuff I listened to in the nineties, that I had completely forgotten about.

  • Thank you for the link. And jfc what a nuclear meltdown. He sure sounds much more ‘normal’ than regular Lemmy users, which according to him nowadays consist of people not allowed anywhere else online. I’m sure he has the right temperament for attracting ‘normies’ and ‘save the fediverse from itself’ as he puts it, lol
