Games@sh.itjust.works•EA employees brace for the worst under Saudi ownership: 'Hard to feel good about being bought out by a regime that's very much at odds with progressive society'byboonhet@lemmy.zipEnglish
20 hoursComment:
When has EA ever been in alignment with progressive society?
EA funded the game and put its name on it. That’s as good as EA itself putting out a game full of LGBT characters as far as anyone against LGBT rights is concerned. As you yourself said, they would’ve shut BioWare down if they didn’t like it.
EA was actually considered a fairly nice company to work for in terms of the gaming industry a very long time ago.
This whole liberal vs conservative discussion IS an American issue and one they’ve exported to Europe unfortunately. Liberal hasn’t meant what you think it means in over 10 years except in circlejerks and academia
There’s plenty of people who are pro minorities rights and are not capitalists.
Then perhaps you should travel to other countries?
And when your kind says the things your kind often says, I think you can see why more moderate people consider you about equivalent with the nazis. What to most people means “doesn’t hate minorities and wants everyone to have healthcare” is what tankies seem to hate much more than they hate actual fascists.
Horseshoe seems pretty real tbh.
What I mean is that majority of the time people here are pro copyright infringement and against copyright laws
3060 ti 8GB and 32 GB DDR4 says no, I can’t do that or anything else useful with a local model.
However. Deepseek V4 flash is very cheap and fast. It’ll do anything simple and some complex things you throw at it
Funny seeing people on lemmy suddenly defending copyright now lol
But why does it need updates if it works? Just don’t connect it to the Internet and you can run it until either it dies or you die.
If it’s from 20 years ago then isn’t that like 15 years too new to be affected by this patch?
Isn’t that just Rocky configuring the kernel that way? You’re free to compile your own kernel and it’ll still support even old pentiums, just not i486 in new versions
Liberal in modern western political discourse has little to do with capitalism anymore and more about your stance on social issues like LGBT rights, racial equality or healthcare. Half of lemmy pretends not to understand it for some reason but it’s been like that for a few decades.
It’s the result of conservatives using “libtard” and “communist” interchangeably for everyone to the left of Reagan while by the old definition they’re actually liberals.
Languages evolve. Prescriptivism is useless.

4 daysThat’s how these big companies work, they have multiple studios working on multiple games. You still expect the subsidiaries to mostly mirror the top end.

5 daysOh neat, I didn’t know this wasn’t a global thing.
It’s not as universal as the headline makes it out to be of course, maybe around 0.5% of people host home cafes in smaller towns, it’ll be less in the the big cities.

Other AI companies can still buy them, they’re just rare because nobody bought them in the first place. They destroy them because scanning them is faster and in some jurisdictions that absolves you from copyright infringement since the amount of copies doesn’t go up

6 daysCan’t say I’ve had your experience, Windows always had issues. Think 7 was the least problematic version for me and the last one I remember fondly.
I have a car diagnostics laptop running 8.1 because it doesn’t support legacy boot for 7 and is too weak for 10. That UX was horrendous. Then came 10 which was unusable without an SSD. That sounds like the norm now but back then a lot of people didn’t have them. I’m not even going to mention 11, it came out before the AI craze and has sucked since release.
But the really crazy side of Microsoft is the ERPs. Way too much always changing. Good old systems being retired because they have a worse new one to replace it with, etc.

6 daysThe URL they posted has the same title as the post here so it’s the source that changed their title after the fact.

After laying everyone off, I’m not sure they have anyone left to instruct the AI competently. It was never a great organization for talented engineers anyway (not saying they didn’t have any but that the ones they did have would always be underutilised)
