Probably because it’s a gross oversimplification of events to dismiss them as a puppet government and present them as wholly separate from the Venezuelan people.
To paraphrase pop culture, since some people tend to like that: the Venezuelan government is in danger, they are not the danger. The danger is the imperialists who want to worm their way in and destroy the Bolivarian Revolution.

My response may have been vague but it’s the truth! That’s why Maduro was kidnapped and why the actual president that won the election was not put in his place like she should have been (because she won the fucking election!). If the US really gave a fuck about the Venezuelan people Maduro’s cronies wouldn’t be in power right now… Machado would be… Well that and because Trump was jealous of her Nobel Peace prize because he’s petty as fuck…
I spoke with multiple Venezuelan friends and family (by marriage) about their happiness of Maduro being taken rejoicing for a true president instead of a dictator… I was the one telling them to be cautious explaining they need to look at the history of Iraq before celebrating!
Anyway, I may have been vague but I know more about Venezuelan politics than most since I have been married to a Venezuelan for 8 years and have worked very hard to sponsor and transport the majority of her family and friends to the United States or another safe country.
None of this is good for the Venezuelan people! They will see nothing from the oil that the US will take… Instead, they will still continue to suffer while they are ignored by their government and the US.
