    Getting out of the jury box has got to be the absolute most absurd reason I’ve ever heard for wanting to relinquish citizenship.

    What’s the problem with jury duty?

    In my country that doesn’t exist, so I don’t understand why it’s a problem to be summoned to do it, it seems something good to do, not flew from it

      I don’t know about elsewhere but in my experience in the US it’s mostly people feeling like it’s an inconvenience.

      I got summoned a couple years back and was only called in for one half day but the entire time I was there people were talking about how they all had better shit to do. Literally every person I heard while we were waiting had some story about how they had something else they needed to be doing that week

    How to avoid jury duty:

    • say you know a lawyer
    • say you don’t trust cops
    • say your memory is failing you

    …

    At the bottom of that list is “renounce your citizenship”. The reward to work ratio isn’t there.
