I encourage everyone to visit keepandroidopen.org to understand what’s at stake with Android’s future, and I warmly invite users to explore my projects on F-Droid. If you value privacy, transparency, and true software freedom, I hope you’ll find something useful in my work.

I like F-Droid. Started using Bura for weather and it’s nice having a weather app that’s not trying to track your location.

You value privacy, yet you put exclusive content behind a newsletter. 🤔

I don’t mind this type of offer to keep a website from disappearing behind a paywall like the rest of the internet is doing right now. The only critisism I’d have is the wording. There is nothing “exiting” in these newsletters. It’s just marketing.

The newsletter is what it says on the tin: a recap of the articles we posted this week. Plus, a recap of our analytic, updates I made to the site’s UX, and content I posted elsewhere. Is that marketing? I find my work very “exiting” 😉

I don’t see how this is a violation of privacy. If you’re a privacy advocate you are very likely going to have a service like Proton that let’s you create throwaway email addresses.

I value keeping our content out of the hands of AI training data. Gates like that help prevent scrapers from stealing our content.
-
I’d say more than half our content is 100% free with no subscription wall anyway.
If you don’t like it, don’t sign up for it. But dont pretend that it’s a violation of your privacy. It’s not. Lol
