• I still can’t believe the developer of one of my favourite childhood games Scrapland, are the sole developers of mainline entries of my favourite franchise of all time, Metroid. MercurySteam has come so incredibly far since Scrapland. That game was considered mediocre, but it was so incredibly creative and charming that the developers perfecting their game quality since their beginnings, I think makes them the absolute best people to possibly be working on Metroid games. I can’t wait to see what more they will do with the Metroid timeline.

  • I’d be down for another side scrolling Metroid. Dread had its flaws for my personal taste but I still quite liked it.

Still have not convinced myself to drop 60 or 70 bucks on Prime 4, though.

    • S1 is really showing its age. We’ve got new hardware, they should use it.

    • If it’s another side-scroller, it definitely could be both, but we’re definitely in the console refresh cycle where AAA S1 games stop being made.

I do hope it is a side-scroller. I quite enjoyed Dread (and prior ones).

      • Loved Dread! and we just had Prime 4, so it makes sense for a side scrolling Metroid to be next.

Seeing as how Starfox and Ocarina of Time are both exclusive, I would expect more Nintendo first party games to start becoming exclusive going forward. In previous new console cycles, this is roughly the timeframe the previous gen was dropped. But maybe Nintendo will do it a little differently this time given the size of the Switch 1 userbase.

A new first party game over a year into the current generation? It’s difficult to imagine it would be made for the previous generation.
