I understand Puerto Rico and Hawaii, but how is America illegally occupying Korea? When I look it up, it shows that it ended in 1948.

it’s a very similar situation to okinawa in japan or japan in general, only to a greater extent. they keep the status of country but in reality it’s no more than a glorified military base/colony
