There’s only so many hours in a day and Fediverse content isn’t so plentiful that it makes sense to mark discussions that are still near the top of a comms feed as “dead” to me.

That’s before we even get into how easy it is to accidentally hit the buttons in a lot of Lemmy client apps.

Between the description and watching the short tribute video, I definitely felt some type of way.

Maybe I’ve been watching too much analog horror, ARGs, and liminal nonsense, but the short video definitely tapped into that same headspace.

Nothing can bring the originals back, but if you were to make some sort of “Childhood memory” map, and tap into the same vibes that tribute had, well, it would definitely be something.

That’s just for Google’s AI summaries, but it’s the only one with actual methodology disclosed I could find on a quick (non-AI) search.

Plenty of SEO mills with their own “studies” too, and the trend is similar. People don’t interact with the source sites or if they do it’s extremely seldom.

They (SEO mills) are currently trying to flip the gaslight towards “Worry not dear Webmaster, now you just have to make sure your content is now formed so it’s engaging for AI search and engage able right from the AI!” type shit.

I’m tired boss, and I’m not even generally (as in, in all aspects) anti-AI. Yet, I guess.

There is one caveat, that might bite an inexperienced person moving a world from a realm to dedicated hosting.

Marketplace add-ons are encrypted and cannot be directly transferred over. Many add-ons are available in both marketplace and other environments (Curse forge for example), but some of the most popular or obscure ones might not be (e.g. BOP: One of the best biomes add-ons, arguably the best on Bedrock, but only the Java version is available on Curse, its Bedrock version is marketplace only).

So depending on how the realm is set up and which add-ons it has running, it’s some extra work to either locate suitable replacements, start a private port/fork, or make replacements from scratch.

But we collectively let them have control of the playground while it was fresh and clean, so now we gotta deal with their bullshit king of the hill fantasies and the results of their evil stupidity.

You entirely sidestepped the scenario and issue. In the example given, the copyrighted work is being produced directly onto a medium that obfuscates its provenance, literally. Yet, gives an opening for another to publish it in such a way, that they could claim it’s their copyrighted work. They would be lying, and they would be wrong, but then you would have to prove to a body composed of ancient mummies who uphold an ancient code, why one of the few ways they thought they understood technology and codified into their verification process, isn’t actually showing them the truth this time. Do you know how to defend a copyright claim?
