I grow tomatoes because they taste infinitely better than what you can buy.

Yes, I end up with more tomatoes than I can consume. For about one month. For about 8 months of the year if I want fresh tomatoes I have to buy them still.

Scalpers are low lifes who don’t necessarily know much about the products they scalp. They must have thought it was going to be the same as the last few generations of gaming console releases.

I also believe that the typical potential customer for a Steam Machine will know better.

Fun fact: when they were still figuring out electricity they didn’t have a proper understanding of electrons so they wrote all electric diagrams with the assumption that something was going from the positive side to the negative side. We’ve known that electrons have a negative charge and move from negative to positive for quite a while now but conventional electrical diagrams are still backwards to the flow of the electrons to this day.

The website doesn’t have to handle the code and security for their own login system, which reduces costs for them too.

Calling it: In the future we will learn that they have been using it to gather face recognition data and have been using it to track their users in the real world by partnering with the likes of Flock.

If you use the same Google account for a bunch of different third party websites, Google gets to associate your activity on those websites to you, giving them more points of data about you. They wouldn’t offer themselves as a login option if they didn’t make money out of it.

Also if you use your Google email for many other services it becomes even harder to ditch Google afterwards.
