  • Pedantics, really. In colloquial terms, it makes sense to describe a vaccine as doing exactly that. Not everyone has a grasp on the statistics involves; a huge number of people learned about R0 for the first time because of covid. People were arguing over whether you should wash your hands and wear a mask like it was the dawn of germ theory; I forgive the media for not going into hour long lectures about viral replication in the body and the expected statistical significance of vaccination…

(And I hate to defend the MSM…)

  • It isn’t a live virus vaccine, is what they’re saying. It contains no viral materials. Yes you can still get infected and spread the virus; thinking otherwise is an elementary-school understanding of immunology. No one knowledgeable would ever claim that specifically; they would say it reduces the spread and improves health outcomes when you do get exposed. It depends on how your body reacts to the vaccine, lead time to exposure, and the viral dose you’re exposed to.

I’m more inclined to believe they’re a doctor than you’re arguing in good faith…

  • Engineered bioweapons are of course a thing, but sars-cov-2 is far from that. Even at the time, I knew college kids who could probably make a more dangerous virus if they had the resources.

Covid was a slow underhand toss of what an existential threat could look like, and humanity / governments fumbled it right into a faceplant. It’s embarrassing, frankly.

All evidence and analysis of the virus point to natural origins and evolutionary pathways. There’s no evidence of editing or that it was part of gain-of-function research. The virus is relatively harmless by historic measures, but also not weak or documented enough to be used in evolutional studies. It would be far more potent if it was engineered, and it wouldn’t have been so novel if it was being used for research.
