Why is the European Space Agency doing this instead of a moon program or something? /j

Ideally, yes. But we’re way past the point where mitigation alone can solve this. We need climate change adaptation, too.

True. I was thinking about the Hitler one in particular, as I’m sure someone would quickly notice such an extensive edit on such a notable topic.
In fact, I wonder if there are bots or something for detecting these edits…

Nah.
Sure, disinformation and propaganda are worse than ever.
But the truth is still out there.
And it’s worth looking for.

You could, but it would be reverted within 24 hours.
And by hours I mean minutes.
Perhaps even seconds if it’s during CET waking hours.
I make a backup of my project on an external hard drive twice-ish a week and pacman-Syu twice-ish a month. If anything serious happens, I’ll just reinstall and restore.
I could keep an up-to-date install USB ready, tho - but I have enough other options at the moment.
Thanks for the concern.

Yeah, and the small part of the the news that can affect me and/or I have input about is what the news summary should be about - thinks like Chat Control, climate change, or AI deepfakes.
It works well enough for now. Some things were surprisingly simpler than I expected them to be (e.g. gaming thanks to Heroic Launcher and Steam).
Note for the Linux-curious potentially reading this: I had sufficient experience with Linux Mint and Ubuntu as well as test runs of Arch before committing to it. DO NOT SWITCH DIRECTLY TO ARCH LINUX FROM WINDOWS. Try Mint first (or Bazzite, I hear that one is great for gaming but have yet to try it myself), and preferably using VirtualBox before committing to a switch.

I’ve largely stopped actively following news because
I’d like to read summaries of a given week’s news on the world, EU, national, and maybe local level once a week, tho. I’ll check if there’s anything like this for the world and EU scale and report back here if there is.

That’s one of fediverse’s most underused selling points. Karma farming is impossible here.
I get to say “I use arch btw” :P

Because social media is where nuance goes to die - and that applies to both MLs and us.
A lot of them overcorrect from falling for capitalist propaganda into falling for USSR propaganda
For example, about North Korea. Claims about it are probably exaggerated to some degree, but I sincerely doubt it’s secretly the success story at least one ML I had the displeasure of talking to seems to believe it to be.
The truth is nuanced. Nuance is hard. Blaming everything on the West is easy.
On the other hand, MLs themselves are also more nuanced than we often give them credit.
Unfortunately, like nuance, communication is also hard. Especially in hot-headed situations like this.

Wouldn’t that just make them… PCs?
I forgot to finish my argument earlier - that computers being convenient for gaming is why PC gaming will never fully die. But consoles can still have their hard-core gaming niche by specializing for high perfomance/price ratio and making it easier for devs to make games for them (not even exclusives, just regular ports).
Also, bring back a true physical media option or something. If I’m going to have to download a game/patch, I might as well use a PC.

The thing about “PC gaming” is that I already use a PC (laptop) daily, so it makes sense to also use it to play games rather than buy a separate device, especially if I mostly play cheap indie games with low spec requirements.

Yea, Court. Whoops. Thanks for the link!

Noted. Wishlisting Titanium Quest for when I carve out some time

I’ve been playing my favourite kind of cozy point-and-click adventure on PC… Doom Eternal. (The demons are the puzzle and you point and click until it is done.) (Doom 2016 is better, tho - no Marauders, more ammo, more upset Hayden…)
As for phone, I’ve been trying out Google PlayPass and it might be the only Google service I keep using (unless/until I find a non-google alternative). I love no longer seeing ads or microtransactions in games. Some games I tried:
the astronauts running a private minecraft server on mission-critical equipment? :P
