Cake day: July 16th, 2024

Today’s game is some more Lost in Vivo. I meant to pick this up for like a quick 20 minute session today, ended up sinking nearly an hour in. Suffice to say I’m hooked. I’m noticing a lot of similarities with Silent Hill which is awesome to me, one of the aspects I loved about Silent Hill was how mysterious it was. And not “unexplained mystery just to lead the player around”, but it feels like the Mystery is coherent. This game has that same feel where all the little pieces are very neatly tied together into a coherent piece.

I also wanted to praise the Save Rooms. They haven’t done anything particularly cool on a grande scale, but there’s something about them that feels comfortable. The only way I think I can describe it is like Fable 3’s safe room. The combo of the music and how safe it is brings back nostalgia for me and makes it feel safe and nice (or so I assume)

There’s also this segment I found which had light bleeding through from the outside. I also wanted to praise this, because it did a good job of making me feel isolated. Like. Daylight is just right there but I can’t call for help.

Anyways. Tomorrow I’m gonna try to go back to Jedi survivor before I spoil myself on games with this and get in a mood for something else. I already nearly redownloaded something else to add onto my current games. I should try to avoid that for now

Today’s game is Lost in Vivo, I wanted to take a break from all the Star Wars so i figured this would be a great game to try out. I saw a video online that was a few hours long talking about it, so i wanted to try it out. Coming fresh off another Horror Game this is an interesting game to go to.

I will admit as of now i’m a bit lost. Not being impatient, but from what I understand the guy lost his dog and went in after it and that’s kind of the gist i got. I don’t know if there’s something i missed earlier but i’m going to assume its going to reveal itself later.

The game though? It has some awesome scares. Maybe 40 Minutes in and there’s only been 2 so far, which i really appreciate. I was a little anxious it was gonna be a Jumpscare heavy game, which, no shade, but isn’t really my thing.

you know what was really fucking cool though? The game had a working escalator. Legit love escalators so this immediately won points from me. So fucking cool. I feel like i don’t see this enough in games.

Anyways, expect to see this interspersed between other games. I also played Halo today, and love it as i do i really want to avoid using that as a screenshot after i’ve collected stats of which games feature the most and seeing that it’s really high up there, so i might use this for a bit to feature for screenshots.

  • I love bounty quests, so getting her quest to go through is fun. I might just settle in for an evening and try to get them all.

And I hear ya. There’s some bad things about the hobby for sure right now, but I’ve found as long as I approach things with a level head and try to remain optimistic I can find something to enjoy about it, even if that does sound really fucking corny.

And on the bright side if the worst were to happen I always have older games to go back too. I’m still pretty young and I know for a fact there’s tons of old stuff I have never seen before

Today’s game is some more Jedi Survivor. I ran into the bounty hunter lady this time. It really reinforced the western themes I’m feeling from this. Out in the frontier. Chasing a bygone era. And you even get a gun.

I tried to do some fun stuff with lighting and the brim of her hat. But there seems to be a seam between the rim of the hat and the base. Which kind of threw it off. I still like it though.

I also finally met Merrin again. I liked having her as a companion in the game. The magic stuff she does I feel pairs nicely with Cal’s stuff compared to Bode.

After heading back to Koboh and getting that weird cylindrical thing, i went and ran into the lobster fisherman guy. I saw he only had 12 fish to collect so I went and collected a few of them. I figured it’d be a nice detour from the main story. That’s kind of how I spent the rest of my evening.

  • When fighting him it made me stop and go “I really want to go back and play KoTOR”. It might be a future stop I make.

Also him missing an arm is fucking bad ass. I really hope they don’t give him a prosthetic or anything because the lack of symmetry in his design makes it so much more memorable. Plus coming off of Fallen Order I feel like he pulls off the “Fallen Jedi” thing better than what’s-his-face working with Merrin

Today’s Game is Jedi Survivor. I keep nearly typing that as Fallen Order. Old habit I suppose from typing the name so many times while working to 100% it.

Anyways. I made my way through the Forest Array. I just want to say thank god for the fast travel in this game. Makes getting around so much easier. I do feel there’s been a sense of accomplishment lost from it, but I can fully accept that’s on me and I’m not being forced to fast travel.

The gliding that got introduced im a little mixed on. It’s a fun idea but it does feel a little like a patch for what the first game had for the level design. Not any sort of deal breaker though. It’s a fun mechanic I like. The mounts too with how it’s moving to be a little more open of an open world.

Anyways. Finally, Dagan Gera. I like him. He feels like a Sephiroth type. Won’t go into any spoilers but I had fun taking pictures of him. Technically the shadow cast by the lightsaber is impossible I think, but that’s okay. I like how it casts a shadow over his eyes. I was playing with the spotlights too while doing this so I feel like that produced some really stellar screenshots.
