Executing people is always unethical. But in this case it’s not even necessarily adultery, it could be polyamory (or some other ENM).
That’s a very elegant way of doing it! I need to do something similar with my setup one day. Having everything hosted in my home gives me the most control but also a lower availability than if I ran everything in someone else’s datacenter. Currently an outage means that browsers and other clients just time out which is not very informative. Have you explored any other options? I was thinking of spinning up a dedicated VM somewhere to handle this and automatically switching over DNS entries at the same time (maybe automatically update DynDNS when the VM boots).
WRT is this relevant to selfhosted: I think some people will disagree, but Cloudflare is still selfhosting. It’s not localhosting, but as long as it’s services that you provision yourself it’s selfhosting.
Is there a game that you wish you could play again, but you can’t anymore because it doesn’t run on modern systems or the servers shut down? What do you miss about it?
The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) service was an online gaming service that provided free online play in various Nintendo DS and Wii games. Nintendo discontinued the service on May 20th, 2014, primarily because the host of the service, GameSpy, was shutting down its servers. Nintendo WFC was required for online play, but the Wiimmfi Project has replicated much of its functionality and allows for continued online play in Mario Kart Wii and other games.
With a bit of patching, this allows many Nintendo Wii and DS games’ online functionality to work again. The project doesn’t seem to have any updates since 2021 but the servers are still online and active.
Depending on the game, it might even be possible to get it working again without patching thanks to Kaeru’s project.
The RC15 Project hosts servers and provides a modified game client of Robocraft from 2015 with improvements over the original and without many of the controversial changes to Robocraft from later updates.

For over 20 years, E3 was the highest-profile event in video games. Founded in 1995 by the Interactive Digital Software Association and Infotainment World, E3 was a larger-than-life spectacle that celebrated the present and future of gaming. Although nominally a trade show, E3 has become renowned for its over-the-top booths and marketing gimmicks, dramatic press conference reveals, and generally putting a massive spotlight on the games business.
The Video Game History Foundation has released new collections of E3 media showing the history of the expo throughout the decades. It’s a solid nostalgia trip of old games and gimmicks.

Can you please learn how to use git or at least some source control software instead of creating a new (almost) empty repository every release? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
If you’re just going to include source code archives in the release instead of pushing them to the repo itself, you should at least disable the automatic source code archives. But you’d be better off not using a source control website at all if you’re not going to use source control.
If someone has a recent archive of the git repo I’ll happily add it onto my git server.
