I always thought it was pretty genius that you could rotate the screen 180 degrees to make it right or left handed.

I might still have that broken unit buried in my parents’ basement somewhere. Likely next to my Sega Game Gear that probably still works.

I finally found another! Until today, I have never encountered anyone else who owned an Atari Lynx. It was my first video game system, which I saved up for and bought myself. It was fantastic, and I loved it, until it broke. I mailed it off for repair. After many weeks, it came back fixed, and I was again thrilled. Then it broke again, and I did not mail it out a second time.

The researchers responsibly disclosed FROST to Google, Apple, and Mozilla before publishing. The responses are worth reading carefully:

• Google said it does not consider browser fingerprinting to be a security vulnerability.

• Apple described the attack as “currently out of scope,” with possible mitigations in the future.

• Mozilla acknowledged the findings but has not implemented any fix.

In other words, the three companies that ship some of the world’s most-used browsers have collectively said “ok, not my concern”.

Fingerprinting is treated as a known cost of doing business on the modern web, and a side channel that leaks tab and application data through a storage API is, apparently, not a fire worth putting out.

Objectively speaking, I don’t think that entire industry is legitimate.

I’m reasonably certain they have all been hacked recently, and they don’t take security seriously, because: Why bother? They’ll never face any serious consequences, and their power will continue unchecked.

Sadly, there is nothing like what you want in that price range. Any mid-high end phone that perhaps you already have would do this with alacrity though.
