I’m a Perl programmer. This C syntax is fucked.
TLDR: OSS local model good, overpriced cloud-only model bad.
Even if it was a good idea to optimize traffic based on live data
Have you ever used Google Maps? That future is already here.
Open source local LLMs will win the day, as the tech becomes more and more compressible. But, now AI data centers are f’ing up the supply that would have accelerated that process.
Frankly, it says more about the fragile PC supply chain than anything else, especially memory and other specialized electronic manufacturing processes.
Flock, Palantir, and all of the use of AI for invasive surveillance? You hadn’t heard of those?
Well, try storing heat for later use. How do you do this as a temperature battery?
An efficient device like solar panels are still much much less effective without batteries. In the same vein, producing or moving heat right now doesn’t mean some other room or device needs the excess or inverse right now.
Nobody runs a dryer constantly, for example. If there’s barely any heat to pull when it is needed, how do you solve for that? Generating heat goes against the goal of recycling it with a central system.
