The US would be the only country to suffer in this scenario. The rest of the world would be just fine with using cheaper memory while we shoot ourselves in the foot to spite them.

My obsession isn’t with range, it’s with charge time. Yes I’m a bit irrational wanting a fully charged car every morning but that may not happen with a lower battery efficiency using a level 1 charger. I’m sure you’d appreciate better range efficiency like any gas car user would want better MPG.

The range is now 205 miles, from a 63-kWh battery.

That’s… Not that great. For comparison, the 2022 Chevy Bolt has a similar sized battery (65kWh) but about 260 miles of range. The weight’s a little less than the slate at 3,600 lbs though it still wouldn’t be enough to gap the difference in performance. There’s either some heavy drag introduced by the truck or some drive system inefficiencies.

That won’t be the only thing going out the window when/if a crash happens.

This is gonna be a tough price point for the casual and non tech savvy crowd. I figure most of them would go with a PS5 or Switch at that point even if it’s a worse value proposition.

I once found a working NES with a bunch of games in a dumpster a few years ago. It’s sad to think of how many valuable and hard to find games/systems eventually found their way in the trash because their owners were too lazy to donate or sell them for others to enjoy.

They have their own set of limitations. Fedora has the drivers for my printer but had a strange bug that wouldn’t wake the screen after sleeping, requiring a reboot. Bazzite works well but installing my VPN was really hard to do thanks to its immutable nature. I spent hours trying to solve a problem following all sorts of guides with no results. Often times the commands or programs that work in one tutorial don’t on my PC.

For someone who simply wants plug and play with no additional tinkering, Bazzite or Mint could just work (depending on the hardware you have). For anyone else who was even a moderate Windows power user, it can require a huge amount of tinkering. I don’t know how I’ll be able to get back to running a VPN + torrent while simultaneously dumping the files to my LAN’s SMB NAS drive. I spent hours just tinkering with the VPN’s allowlist and nmap in the console with hardly anything to show for it. Even gigolo wouldn’t work for some reason.
