I used to have a Ryzen 2700X based system as a server. At the time (no clue if it’s still an issue), there was a bug in the interaction between early Ryzen chips and Linux that caused the OS to lock up intermittently. I used a ATmega32u4 board to connect to the reset switch on the PC and as a USB device with a systemd unit that sends a ping to the board every 30 seconds. If the board doesn’t see a ping for a minute, it reboots the PC. It was janky as hell, but it worked for 2+ years!

I have one with the RK3588 (32GB RAM version), and while it is CERTAINLY not competitive on price/performance, it’s been entirely serviceable for the last year, and I really enjoy it. The trackball is a bit annoying, but not game breaking. I think I found where the issue lies in their firmware, but haven’t had the time or energy to try to fix it. For some reason the polling rate on the trackball movement during scrolling is low enough that it doesn’t register if you move really slowly or only move a little bit, which ends up feeling a bit clunky, but it’s still better than most mice. The boot process takes ~10 seconds for me, but I’m loading NixOS with /boot on an SD card and I have LUKS encryption on my SSD.
I don’t know about “most”. It hasn’t been an option on any of the consumer motherboards I’ve used in my homelab.
