Existing EU consumer law already provides for important safeguards protecting the economic interests of consumers. Video game providers must inform consumers about the duration and the conditions for terminating the contract before the consumers signs up for the video game. […]

However, to address players’ concerns, the Commission has committed to taking several steps.

First, it will initiate an exchange with the video game industry and consumer representatives with the aim to draw up an industry code of conduct on managing video games’ ‘end of life’.

Second, the Commission will work with consumer organisations and authorities to raise awareness about the applicable rights that protect consumers, including on safeguards protecting the economic interests of consumers

Edit: edited title for more clarity.

Arch Linux’s AUR is experiencing a malware incident involving user-contributed packages with malicious commits that attempt to download npm-based payloads during installation. (…)

Arch users should not update AUR packages without review. Examine PKGBUILD diffs, check any new .install files, and be cautious if updates introduce npm commands or dependencies unrelated to the software.

Users who recently updated affected AUR packages should review package history, examine executed suspicious install scripts, and treat any unexpected npm-based installation behavior as a possible compromise.

I wanted to take a moment and talk about Linux UX because, let’s face it… it sucks.

Actually, it’s worse than that. Much of Linux’s UX is technically correct and that makes it objectively wrong.

No. I don’t want Linux to be more Windows-like. But I do want the most common Linux desktops to behave in a way that PC-literate folks can wrap their mind around — and do so from minute zero.

  • As stated in the first sentence POG stands for “Protect Our Games”. For a quick overview of the bills content I’m just going to quote Wikipedia (emphasis by me):

In February 2026, the Protect Our Games Act was introduced. Initially proposed by California State Assembly member Chris Ward in February of that year, the bill would require publishers to inform consumers 60 days in advance about a game ending support and to provide clear information about the game’s functionality after its end-of-life. The bill would also prohibit companies from selling a game two months before their discontinuation and require them to provide either a patch for the game to function independently of the publisher’s servers, a separate version of the game that operates autonomously in the same vein or a full product return.

TLDR: it’s a bill that would, if implemented, mandate the things Stop Killing Games wants.
