Test failed successfully. Excess material hit the bed, cooled, head collided on next pass, layer shift. Keep the head clean and fine tune to eliminate over extrusion. If bed is not level and first layer bungled, same story after leveling and cleaning bed

Check third party markets, used goods. Got mine from eBay, a Razer core something other. All that’s in there is a pcie to thunderbolt bridge adapter and an atx psu. Can easily bench an egpu for a fraction of the cost using allie or similarly sourced parts, but portability and durability is the trade off. DM me if you do end up buying one, I’ll share any specific config I use.

I’ve got one for my latitude. It works well, but did require some tinkering. There is a good utility for switching automatically between igpu and external. Never had issues taking a charge from it. And yes, the enclosure is stupid expensive for all it is. You can but the internal components for less, but ended up buying an actual egpu enclosure to avoid the diy hassle

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•390TB video game archive being taken offline due to skyrocketing RAM, SSD, and hard drive prices — AI-driven supply squeeze results in closure of one of the largest online video game archivesEnglish
4 monthsSincerely… if this site goes under due to “AI costs” it was desired or doomed to happen. No capital squeeze deletes data. Yes, an idiot can spin critical drives into oblivion, but is that a site to mourn? Never. This maintainer is better than that and citing BS to avoid maintaining their server because they think they need a modern upgrade, and moronic tariffs messed with the time frame.

Thermal expansion is real. Have experienced loose nozzles when only cold tightened. Also as others have said, ensure belts are tight. If they’re floppy enough to skip teeth on the steppers you’ll definitely get layer shift from a light breeze. Monitor the next test and let us know how it goes!
