It’s unaffordable for those who don’t sail the high seas and buy a new rig every year. I have one that’s probably more than 5 years old by now and the only games I retrieve don’t require the latest and greatest. Plus, there are games more than a decade old with good graphics. Things haven’t gotten terribly better since. This channel regularly showcases some.
I have. They don’t believe the science. “Cats only kill weak and sick animals”. I’ve given up on it. Can’t convince a mind that’s made up. But the cadavers are annoying the whole household, so I was hoping for some possible solution that didn’t involve getting the friend all wound up.

My friend insists on letting it out because animals aren’t supposed to be kept in captivity. And it’s not easy to play with cats if you’re gone 10 hours a day
I’m at a friend’s place and the cat keeps bringing in dead (or half-dead) animals into the house. It’s my understanding that cats think we are big, helpless kittens that don’t know how to hunt. Hence, they think they are doing us a favour.
It seems like a few mice actually escaped and found refuge in some walls in the house, so these “presents” are actually more than just annoying (and smelly if the dead animal ends up behind the couch).

Not every religious person is 100% religious. How can you be 100% sure something like a god (or gods) doesn’t exist? How would you know? In the grand scheme of things, you are nigh imperceptible. Whether you live or die, are happy or sad, might not matter in the slightest. There are more galaxies than there are grains of sand on this planet.
Claiming to know a god doesn’t exist is as laughable as claiming a god does exist. Accepting that one doesn’t know everything is not a sign of weakness, lack of belief, or mental fortitude, it’s a realistic way of approaching the world.
I think you’re both on the same side and find that there aren’t enough protections for consumers and that the existing ones are being ignored. You @Zoot@reddthat.com and @imecth@fedia.io are describing how things are currently working out in reality despite the laws, @MagnificentSteiner@lemmy.zip is describing how things are legally despite their disregard.
We can probably all agree that we need to enforce the existing laws and expand them.
Pretty much every company I’ve been in or know of values a vertical trajectory instead of a horizontal one for its employees i.e becoming a manager nearly always means a faster salary progression than becoming an expert in one or multiple fields.
Why is expertise valued less?

Gamers are less capable of self-control than heroin addicts. Trying to get them to stop buying games is a fools errand.

Edit: it seems like people understand this post as a “let’s buy non-woke games”. I mean it as “use the list to find ‘woke’ games” and buy those. Not mindlessly, of course. But review-bombed “woke” games can have a harder time (especially in their forums), because of such curators and it could be a good way to discover actual good games that are subjugated to hate coming from these curators and groups.
