You can use tailscale + gluetun docker containers to use your favorite commercial vpn as an exit node on the same machine. https://github.com/alexmaisa/tailscale-vpn-exitnode

Or you need to update iptables of you don’t use docker and have e. g. wireguard out as an exit node. Or if you have vpn out on your router, and tailscale on the home network, you just use it as exit node.

Do you use tailscale as an exit node? What device are you using to access the home network when you are away? What are your speeds on that device without tailscale (but still away)?

Or did you mean that the speed drop happens for the server, not for the connected device? So when you are connected through tailscale the server would be unable to e.g. download anything fast?

Dont waste 5k on an ai computer. Of you want new one, buy for 2k at most. Ai will get optimized more and more. Now we have MoE with which we can run things at home we couldn’t even dream about. The companies loose money fast, there will be massive optimization sooner or later.

How are you running tailscale at home? Docker? Or natively?

I feel like the obtanium way is better because you have to consciously make the choice and weight the risk, while this is too convenient and will just end up like AUR full of malware. I do not even use Obtanium btw, I don’t have time to check the apps code regularly, I think F-droid is better way and Aurora for the few that are not there.
