“The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime” is written in the narrative of a boy with aspergers, read it many years ago and enjoyed it a lot. Like, it really paints an interesting picture of how the world can also be experienced

Nice! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Do you happen to know what’s the purpose of the initial blanch? I.e. why not just roast them right away?
Working with data platforms, primarily with financial data. Although I must admit I do recognize the dread from working in larger organizations - but that’s likely due to the size of the company rather than it being tech

I’m pretty happy in tech tbh

18 daysWhen I worked as an analyst, I wrote a report about exoskeletons that were available to factory workers which allowed them to lift stuff in a better and easier way to not hurt their backs as much - back pain is apparently is a huge issue for lots of factory workers.
I don’t know what happened after delivering the report, but I would like to think that my report showed the value of the product to upper management and that they implemented some of my recommendations for increasing adoption and usage.
On a more personal note, some drunk guy was harassing a girl on a train once, and I managed to distract the guy and get him to talk to me instead until the girl got off the train, where she said thank you and smiled to me just before leaving.
I think people of all genders could feel this way.
Yes, being called out can be hurtful and even result in feelings in humiliation — I understand. Here are five suggestions for ways you can reply back:
- I am innocent, what is an el-el-ehm even?
- I am sorry for having betrayed your trust in this way, and will never use AI ever again
- I apologize, unfortunately I suffer from low IQ and my doctor has prescribed 100 M tokens per month to support my knowledge journey
- No, you’re using AI

If you would like, I can also give you advice for dealing with your insecurities and dive into why you seek validation through upvotes?
Wow that sounds like an insane relationship. I guess she only really dared being herself after you moved in together? Hopefully you managed to get out without too many scars on your soul.
I reckon people have different opinions on “what spending time together” entails - ranging from
- being in the same room doing different stuff
- Sitting next to each other doing different stuff
- sitting next to each other watching the same movie
- Talking together Etc.
Japanese: https://www.justonecookbook.com/feed/ Recently I’ve had good times following her recipes for okonomiyaki, tamagoyaki, chawanmushi, and especially onigiri! Although I seem to recall her takoyaki were too runny for me to work with them
Thai: https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/ (Couldn’t find RSS feed though) curries, pad Thai, are mainly the ones I’ve been doing, but she’s really good
Chinese: https://feeder.co/discover/dbc0b80c93/chinesecookingdemystified-substack-com (Not sure how this feed thing works but otherwise https://chinesecookingdemystified.substack.com/)
- biang biang noodles, mapo tofu are definitely my favourite dishes from here
French: https://www.thefrenchcookingacademy.com/recipes/
- made a couple of different dishes but the poulet l’estragon is insane

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's one book everyone should read at least once in their lifetime?bydjmikeale@feddit.dk
2 monthsThe ones that influenced me the most earlier in life was
- The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera
- sapiens, by yuval noah harari
Both illuminate what it means to be human and what makes us (not) achieve happiness, but explained through very different lenses

Yeah same! I ended up reading all the book very ahead of what my teacher had planned (a couple chapters each week), I was so captivated by it.
