If you want a Free Software Foundation recommend distro, I would say Trisquel or PureOS (if you don’t need wi-fi). Or Linux Mint. Or Debian with Mate or Cinnamon desktop environment.
Privacy@lemmy.ml•would you wait for the Grapheneos-Motorola phone or buy a new pixel now?bydragospirvu75@lemmy.ml

11 daysI guess so. But you will see more extremists for proprietary to free software. And it’s federated like email. So, for example, even if you have see a Proton extremist, it’s not a big deal, you can use another provider and still talk to him. Same for Fediverse.

12 daysOf course. Mac OS users will tell that you are so poor/stingy to buy an Apple computer, and Windows users to buy a Windows license. I left Windows, Reddit, X and Whatsapp 3 years ago. Switched to GNU/Linux, Lemmy, Mastodon and Signal/XMPP/SimpleX/DeltaChat. Best tech decisions I made. I hope more people will join Free/Federated technology. :-)

12 daysPeople have strange and strong brand loyalty for proprietary things. It’s like a culture for them. I have seen it especially on iPhone and Whatsapp. Not only they refuse to use alternatives (Android; RCS/Signal/XMPP etc.). They will think you are a loser if you don’t use them. Or, even worse, will try to convince you to use them and that those are the best and anything else is a shit. I believe it’s the same for social media. So good luck!
In 2027, Motorola will realease a phone with GrapheneOS preinstalled. So no Google phone.
I primarily use Ecosia because it plants trees. I also use Mojeek, it’s indipendent.

I would use VPN, but it makes my Bitcoin Node stop receiving incoming connections.
