Ah that wasn’t clear to me. I can’t remember any consumer electronics getting more expensive while still in production in my lifetime, although if we expand out to other product categories it’s happening all over the past decade or so. Inflation combined with shrinkflation has been making pretty much everything worse value.

They do now, not just in the past. FF7 Rebirth shipped on multiple discs.
They do a lot of online sales as I understand it. Given there’s not a lot in the Canadian market online for physical resale, they are really only behind EB Games in that regard.
Lots of games have shipped on multiple discs over the decades. As recently as FF7 Rebirth which was shipped on two or three, iirc.
I’m primarily a PC gamer and lack of physical copies is probably one of my top three drawbacks of it. It’s slightly different in PC though, because at least we have GOG as a non DRM option.
Most of the games on Steam don’t have Rockstar’s budget.

Well, GTA 6 isn’t launching on PC any time soon so that’s not particularly relevant right now.
This is an unnecessarily gatekeepy take. I love an extremely wide variety of video games, from Morrowind to Monkey Island, and I think GTA games have had generally compelling stories. Crime drama is a fiction staple and scarcely anyone does it better than Rockstar.
Video Games Plus, a gaming retailer based out of Canada, and an independent gaming retailer known as Loot Box Gaming have both stated that they won’t be selling GTA 6.
Not huge retailers in the grand scheme of things, but interesting to see at least some taking a stand especially when they are almost certainly losing out on money by doing so.
GTA Online 2 or w/e looks like its gonna be a monthly subscription to even access it.

As I understand it, game discs spin up to essentially read the disc which serves as a kinda of “key” to let the game launch. Not sure why it would be different install size from downloaded version, unless there’s some patching differences for some reason.
Well, there is no disc for GTA 6. Only digital codes.
I honestly don’t know how I could pick one favourite. I have super fond memories of the Sega Genesis, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, I really could not say which one is a favourite.
I didn’t say anything about game duplication. If Rockstar requires a phone home to play, then that is also shitty and don’t support that either. But I’m not aware of if they do or not.
Rain World has been on my list for a while and it’s currently 90% off, cheapest it has been since 2023. Definitely picking that up.
