I can barely state my feelings on AI modified memes. A mixture of disappointment and disgust. I suspect people are starting to run memes through AI for the same reason people horizontally flipped memes: some half-baked attempt at reducing the chances of tracing the origin. For what, they’re afraid the original meme creator has copyright ownership?

Technology@lemmy.world•Toyota And Nissan Admit Their American-Made Vehicles Aren't Up To Japanese StandardsEnglish
24 hoursI saw one of their trucks in the UK yesterday as a company vehicle and I’m mad about it. A Toyota Wildtrak. On a road, owned by an estate agent, and in one of the flattest countries in the world.

Technology@lemmy.world•"We Listened" - Commodore Reduces The Price Of Its Forthcoming Callback 8020 'Dumbphone'English
1 dayAh yeah, I’m west Europe. I used the Samsung A series as a baseline for this claim, as their A04 and cheaper have 4+ year old chips, but overall it seems I was exaggerating. You know what, maybe I was getting confused with iPhones always being released with 8 year old specs

Technology@lemmy.world•"We Listened" - Commodore Reduces The Price Of Its Forthcoming Callback 8020 'Dumbphone'English
1 dayPhones cheaper than USD$400 tend to have 4 year old chipsets*, so imo if they’ve beaten that, they’ve probably done well against the current market. By my standards a posture dumbphone should be cheaper, but it’s obviously marketing to a different demographic than e.g. Oneplus Nord and the now-dead iPhone SE. At the very least it might be a cool museum piece

science@lemmy.world•Your brain was never designed for this much bad newsEnglish
2 daysVoyager has the ability to filter anything you want, the moment you see some toxic bad news you can remove a keyword. The only reason I haven’t banned .world outright is because there are meme channels

I decided to have high moral standards, and now I’m constantly burned out by checking if the publisher or development team’s owner is fucking over some people, either by enforcing patch updates (small hill but I’ll die defending my right to glitch out of playable areas), employee overworking, prioritising shareholder profit over fun factor, gatekeeping based on identity or political influence etc. As a kid I had no worries and could play games built by EA, Epic or Bohemia Interactive without thinking about how they profit off American wars.
