I’ve noticed that lately shit posting communities have really gone down the drain because there seems to be some sort of cultural notion that you can just post anything and it’s fine because… “It’s a shitpost, it’s not that serious, you just don’t get it”. I remember back in my day shitposting used to mean something 😤

Definitely an annoying situation, I guess maybe you could try posting about the problems that you see with Snapchat, like with articles and whatnot, whenever you have a chance, and maybe just trying to get them to change their stance on it. For me personally, leaving Snapchat was a privacy and ethics choice - and anyone who wouldn’t respect that, good riddance. I only really have two friends myself. I enjoy it usually. I get to spend lots more time with them, and an exchange have a deeper connection. Its not for everyone though.

I was in the same situation as you. Just message them elsewhere and delete it. Everyone who wasn’t willing to message me on a better platform turned out to not be that worth interacting with. All the real ones did what they could to keep talking to me without hesitation and respected my reasoning

The term used in academic literature and the field itself for that kind of technology is and has been AI for at least ten years. Intelligence doesn’t imply independence anyways? And besides, even if it did, thats why an entire 50% of the term consists of the modifier “artificial”. So like, you’re right that it isn’t intelligence in the colloquial sense. It’s artificial intelligence in the technical and standardized sense, though. The use of term is pretty much totally undebatable. Just because people don’t like the term now doesn’t change that.

But it is AI, so it should be called that. People should adjust their simplistic notions about the term instead
