They just announced it EU-wide.
Most AAA studios have bonus programs in place for sales up to around a year after release - to theoretically make up for the extremely poor baseline salaries. Artists do in fact get paid for the amount of copies sold.
The dogged ignorance of gamers as to the financial reality of game devs neglects the fact that launch profitability bonuses are the only thing that lifts many of them out of a minimum wage bracket.

The last few financial crises have led to massive wealth transfers to the 1%. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the more accelerationist of them are trying to engineer them at this point.
Librarians don’t get dressed up in balaclavas and hit their nearest book store to get more books. No you’re not entitled to artist‘s work for free.

That workarounds exist doesn’t change the fact that Valve shuts them down when it can (as noted by that repo). It doesn’t change that Valve claiming to not want to create closed ecosystems rings extremely hollow.

It’s a closed system that doesn’t allow owners on other platforms to access the mods (Valve actively shuts down anyone attempting to make it possible). Many mods are only uploaded to Workshop.

He published a transcript of a speech where he goes over a summary of the book that’s worth a read https://pluralistic.net/2025/12/05/pop-that-bubble/#u-washington

I guess Steam Workshop is a vivid hallucination of mine then.

Is that of newly uploaded content or overall? Because the latter is terrifying considering YouTube is 20+ years of content.

I don’t miss the misogyny. It’s still around but not as acceptable generally, and easier to find other women now.

Computer class in high school back then for me was treating them as glorified typewriters. I fooled around with some VBScript as that’s all we had available (I was very fortunate my grade school teacher taught us LOGO) and I managed to script kiddy my way into admin access for the internet filter for my friends so we could play stuff on Newgrounds. My career advisor told me to get a science degree because there was no future in computers, haha.

The gaming communities here are somehow even more miserable than reddit. I need different hobbies clearly.
Uses some American brand name you’ve never heard of as an ingredient with no further elaboration
I don’t agree at all. The first book was great, no argument there - but the series matures with Le Guin as it goes. It’s a truly magnificent breakdown of the fantasy genre.
