  • yup this is me, 25 years in the industry and I’m getting out for my birthday in October. I can’t do it anymore, sick of it. I had hoped that CTOs and various managers would have turned their backs on ai agents after the absolute cluster fuck they’ve all collectively witnessed first hand but no, they doubled and tripled down. I’ve lost hope.

I’ve lost hope of a bubble bursting and what have you. I don’t think it’s going happen now. months ago I said “any day now” but how I’ve seen them all dig their feet in they’re in for the long haul regardless of what it will cost them. they’re all in too deep and are going to make this thing “work” even if it kills people.

So I’m out. Good luck to everyone else, but i have no more faith.

  • I think gaming as a kid was better simply because of the fact there was a bit of mystery to it.

you rarely knew about upcoming game releases unless it was a major title or was heavily advertised in like GamePro or EGM. most of the time you’d go to the store or a rental place and you’d discover a game right there on the shelf. Some of my favourite games I never knew existed until I rented them from Blockbuster. And many times recommendations game from previously said magazines or word of mouth via your friends. And if a game was cancelled prior to release chances are you wouldn’t be bummed about it simply because you probably didn’t know it existed in the first place.

We don’t have that now. now everything is covered from head to toe everywhere or in early access or whatever. takes the fun out of it.

Also there was nothing better than picking up a game and reading the manual on the drive home.

  • yeah no. one of the reasons plumbers or electricians generally do well is because their field isn’t saturated with plumbers and electricians. hundreds of thousands of each means salaries of said jobs will go down. thus nothing changes. Add to the fact both jobs A. require trade schooling and B. apprenticeships. Also they’re pretty much all unionized which you also have to get into. it would never fly, it could never fly unless you do away with trade schools, apprenticeships, and unions which leaves you with unqualified under paid plumbers and electricians.

This fucking leather jacket wearing mouth breather needs a strong reality check. preferably one that adds another hole to his head.

  • as an alcoholic myself (10 years sober) if you can have a few drinks once and awhile and it doesn’t affect your life in any way whats so ever then power to you. If it’s fun for you every now again but not on the regular, then again, power to you.

For people like me we can’t do that. we don’t know where the stop button is and in many cases don’t care to find it. for otherx saying “drinking is bad full stop it has health issues even if you have one drink every month” oh let the baby have their bottles and ignore them. if you can drink and it’s not destroying anything and you can still function then have at it.

  • oh man I used to have one of these. I remember having to replace the CMOS battery on it hah.

my new favourite thing is watching these retro pc channels on youtube. some of the stuff they do with 30+ year old 90s PC stuff is wild. It’s also amazing how well this tech holds up after all these years, in many cases better than modern stuff.
