I dont have a proper answer, besides being apolitical is convenient. But I have to ask… do you mean Philistines?

1 monthI think he’s talking about George Philenstein, Dr. Frankenstein’s robber baron cousin. You remember how all those internet pedants are always saying “Philenstein was the name of the CEO, not the company.”

Or maybe Albert Einstein’s layabout brother-in-law who couldn’t even spell his own name.

I kinda miss the days when the average person was apolitical.

1 monthThe desire to disengage from the political structures that rule us, allowing them to strip us of power by atomizing us and destroying any kind of solidaristic consciousness that may arise to challenge the status quo, is exactly how we have gotten to where we are.
These are learned, cultural issues that need solved if we are ever going to create a world that actually functions.

I think what they meant was more like, “I miss when the world was better, and people had the choice to be apolitical.” Whether or not that was a good thing or led to the current situation is another thing

actually it was when the loudmouth at the bar had all sorts of crazy things to say like bomb em back to the stone age but did not actually vote. Feels like those guys are in charge now.

“Apolitical”, especially when you remember it’s just an extension of one’s ethics, means one of two things: they’re a shallow, pig-like person who simply doesn’t have the intellectual capacity to even think about anything that goes beyond “do X to get money to pay for Doritos and Buzzballs/cocaine and hookers”; or they’re actually just evil but need to hide it for obvious reasons. Never met any other case.
