I think they are initially trying to be easily embeddable to things like IOT devices, TVs and applications that just need a webview rather than a full blown desktop browser. Something developers can easily add to their projects.
It won’t be taking over Firefox or chrome anytime soon but it’s a start.
The Epstein class have accumulated enough wealth to ride through all of the above, some for generations.
And there’ll always be enough people that’ll defend and help them get away with it no matter how self-deprecating and against their own self interests it may seem. Short term benefits will be will be in high demand.

I have no problem with AI use for science, health, and uplifting humanity like figuring out optimal ways of doing things, minimizing waste.
Currently, it’s just another disingenuous ploy to make rich people even richer forcing it on everyone at an expense of climate and human livelihoods.

imo, there should be automatic tags like “active”, “abandoned”, “maintainer changed recently”, “updated after hiatus” and a few more.
The arch devs and community can decide on the time frames. It’s not going to be perfect, but it may help warn users of the changes and so they can do a double take.
Anything other than the “active” ones should show what changed (paru already does this) and users should make a conscious choice to install it anyway. (y/N) instead of going through the installation spamming the return key.
