Neat! All of this is making me sad about the current state of the franchise because I’m now wanting play through the first 3 again.

I thought it could go either way, like single installation or the entire array but no idea. They did fire the entire array and then reseeded life prior to the events of the first game from my understanding.

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten in the lore of Halo but my guess would be “hey passing by or living in proximity to this particular massive life destroyer 9000 ring is ok because this one has fired and cleared it’s part of the galaxy/system”. Probably a way to categorise which areas have had their rings triggered for traversal or flood surveillance. Like if three rings fired and each one was successively closer to a forerunner installation it could potentially be a form of early warning. Since all the Halos can be accessed/fired remotely from the Ark which was a forerunner repository of all sentient life. That said, rule of cool is a thing and delta halo does sound cooler than 04.

Well at least we agree on the foundational point then I guess. While agree that spray oil alone isn’t making or breaking anyone’s diet (and yes I have used it before) that again is beside the point. The fact that companies are even allowed to do, at all, is the entire point. It’s almost farcical that a company would, with a straight face, try to claim an oil product is 0 cal. Especially given the impractical serving sizes they’ve had to use to get that number. .25 second spraying would be enough to cover the baking paper area for one cookie at best.

People wouldn’t use spray oil for frying? So you think half a second (which is double the vague 1/4 second serving size suggestion for this btw) is all you use every time, because I seriously doubt that.

800 is more reasonable? That’s almost halving the amount of servings in the bottle off the jump. I’m confused what your point is here. No one is using only .25g of this stuff or spraying it .25 of a second. You wouldn’t even be able to cover both sides of a waffle iron with .5 second spraying. This, again, obviously a way to misrepresent the nutritional information of the product.

Do you seriously look at 0g of fat for an oil product and think “oh yeah, this seems legit”? Regardless of its use it still end up on your food (especially for waffles…), more than 0.25g is going to be used in a given meal and 0cal is obviously bs. Wild to see people advocating for companies using deceptive nutritional information because “um well actually 0.25g is a really small amount” which is almost entirely beside the point.

No problem. The only reason I know is from lazy/entitled property managers who expect to fleece people out of a significant portion of the money they work for and then just do nothing to earn it.

If you pay rent, you’re either paying someone mortgage or straight into their pocket. Keeping the place in a decent or at least liveable condition is the least these people can do. It’s literally their job title, manage the property or else you’d be just paying the property owner directly.

What doesn’t make sense is anyone pulling out a scale, accurate to that degree, to measure out 0.25g of oil. No one is realistically going to get 1532 serves out of that bottle. The serving suggestion may as well say “rubbing this on your face is 0 calories”, ok but if it’s used for salad or frying?

Most people are just going to see 0 cal, think it’s healthy and layer it into their food. As others have said, most countries having realistic servings and an easier to interpret per 100g/ml/whatever to prevent this sort of deliberate misrepresentation. Which stops companies dividing the product size by whatever number is needed to make it round to zero.

Sure, if you own it. If it’s a shared use machine like alluded to in OP, you leave it because it’s not your responsibility to maintain.

Most front ends have a drain pump filter to catch any debris from your clothes (hair, pocket lint, etc) so they don’t clog the drain hose. I don’t think they’re super common in top loaders though I’ve seen those have similar lint filters as well.

1. Probably not enough traffic or interest for one but you’re free to make one if you like. I wouldn’t mind having a comm for it.
2. This is covered by your rent/strata fees. Put it to them in an email that multiple machines have a notable foul odour and require sanitising, filter clearing and general maintenance. If you’re renting and the property manager doesn’t action your request, email them 1-2 two more times before escalating it to the relevant government body. Here we can even get electricians/plumbing done and have the bill reimbursed by the property manager/owner if they take too long.
3. Personally, don’t increase your labour/expenses to subsidise things other people are responsible for. If you’re getting this because of issue 2, get the property manager to sort it, it’s literally why you pay rent/strata fees. (See end).

Canada seems similar to Aus in so far as there should some decent government resources to find your rights and obligations as a tenant and how to escalate an issue should you get an arsehole property manager that doesn’t do their job.

That said, this is just horse armour dlc tier. I’ll never understand people defending companies doing this shit. R* is already going to milk 6, probably to the tune of a billion plus dollars, again. Do they seriously have to nickel and dime like this? In an ideal fantasy land, they wouldn’t even charge a cent for SP DLC because they know they’ll sell currency and content for the MP and make an absolute killing.

Why would email get lost, intercepted, or misdirected (compared to SMS)?

Email is not a very secure means of communicating. Generally emails are encrypted between each relay, but at them, they sit there until it’s encrypted again for the next hop. Email in general is not super secure unless you set up some form of encryption, like openpgp for example. The clinic also can’t necessarily determine if you’ve have the account one day, or whether it’s been compromised the next.

If you use email in a browser, that’s a whole new set of potential attack vectors (MiTM for example). Healthcare providers pay out the nose for secure messaging and email services (so your specialist can transmit results/findings to your GP for example). Which requires both parties to have specialised paid software.

In my experience, they don’t seem to verify or identify a patient by address. Even if I give them a fake one, they accept it. If they ever need to send something later, they’ll just confirm the address with you again. So I’d rather give them somewhere to send it, like a PO box, when they actually need it.

I would caution anyone about providing false information to healthcare providers. They may not necessarily immediately work it out but if your information is checked against a third party (certain medications are checked against a database or governing body if they’re scheduled/have high abuse potential) and found not to match, issues may arise. Like important medication scripts being cancelled. Still got that medication? You now possess a controlled substance without legal justification. This one of a myriad of reasons this is a bad idea.

In your experience, do they share a patient’s address, phone number, and medical info with any third party? Or does it stay within that practice permanently?

I don’t live in the capitalism funhole that is the US as a disclaimer. From my understanding, not without your permission (I.e. a GP suggest you see a specialist, you accept, they then coordinate and potentially, with your consent, send the referral). The only exception I can think of is providing information to law enforcement if you break the law at the practice (e.g. threaten staff, become violent etc). Breaching confidentiality is a big deal in the healthcare profession.

Generally they’ll retain your records while you’re an active patient and a minimum time after. When you become inactive, you can request a copy of your patient summary information. Though here I believe after a certain time, lacking any instruction, they’re obligated to de-identify and destroy patient records.

Depending on local laws they may not due to, ironically enough, privacy and sensitive information laws. In fact beyond appointment scheduling I’ve yet to go to a practice that used email in any meaningful way. Even getting my health summary info to transfer between practices, I had to do a whole song and dance that essentially equates to “we’re sending you all this but if it gets lost, intercepted or misdirected, you agree that’s your problem because we told you email is bad”.

They usually need an address to verify who you are (Medicare, benefits, script confirmation, patient differentiation) and a number so they can contact you regarding follow up’s (again to come in, not to discuss meaningful information). Keep in mind, practices, hospitals, etc also deal with drug seekers and mentally unwell individuals.

Beyond personal/sensitive information laws; they also want you to come in for any follow up/results because healthcare professionals like being paid for their time and up until Telehealth, couldn’t typical bill for phone calls. I get desiring privacy but given you’re going to be discussing and sharing personal health information with a clinician, this all seems a bit pointless tbh. Hence ol mate thinking this is a troll question I would guess.

When I worked for a family medical practice, many moons ago, if a patient refused to provide “demographic” information like this, we likely would just decline them as a patient, for liability reasons if nothing else.

Personally, I’d much rather have the choice than just have whatever gets slapped together and shipped by a dev. I’m particularly grateful having recently gone to 3440x1040p, just how many game support it and the options I can tweak to get my personal sweet spot of looks vs frames.

If there’s no low, med or high options that a lot of games ship with; no shame in searching “<game> best graphics settings” or some variant. I still do for some games when I can’t be arsed or when the performance sucks due to a random post processing effect being borked and tanking performance. Games are more complex than ever and with essentially endless permutations of hardware configurations, the graphics settings tend to reflect that.
