16 hoursPretty sure it was made a federal crime. Also, there’s a little website, called X.com run by the world’s first (former) trillionaire that the government could shut down if they wanted to enforce the law. (It’s the most mainstream site violating the law.)

3 daysIt’s hard to mess up. In fact, Trump had to run off at least a few gambling addicts to tank his casino. Modern software engineers would find it difficult to create such friction in a digital environment.

4 daysMuch of what we hear about that place is pure, dystopian propaganda modeled off of Orwell’s work. It’s no surprise that the governments actually trying to create such living conditions are the UK and other Anglophone nations. Every year we descend further into hell.

Privacy@lemmy.world•The KIDS Act Would Require Age Checks To Get OnlineEnglish
4 daysThe government wants untraceable, anonymous user profiles they can control and use for espionage, etc., but also wish to track every user who accesses the web.
They’re destroying their own tools as a trade off to control the population. (They feel weak and are worried about uprisings.) Soon enough the internet will require your digital ID for every website. At which point you might as well just get rid of your PC and smartphone and forget about the web entirely.
If the tracking is no longer a background phenomena you can avoid if you’re diligent, but instead you’re carded each time you use the web, then it’s no longer a free information system worth using.

4 daysChina will not collapse. It produces too many goods and its economy is too strong. Birth rates aren’t a problem to the point that they undermine manufacturing.
If someone tries to tell you the story that China will collapse and they seem credible, just reach out to me. I have a bridge for sale that will help you short the Chinese collapse.

You know, they love me in Greenland. I showed up, I said, “This place isn’t very green.” But then we installed the data center, melted all the ice. We sprayed some Brawdo. We wanted to give the plants 🌱 a head start, so we sprayed it. Our secretary of agriculture told me it would work and it has. We sprayed it. I’m thankful for our agriculture department and the Brawndo company. Since we sprayed it, the country of Greenland has never been greener. I think they’re very grateful and we hope to get a lot of Greenland votes in the next election.
