No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do Americans actually use red plastic cups at parties or is that just a Hollywood trope?byℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.net

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•if you had to swear off the internet for good what would you take with?byℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.net

George Washington Carver. Born enslaved, became a chemist, and proceeded to look around his community and ask, “What do we need? What do we have?” Most famously, what they needed was crop rotation. What they had to rotate in was peanuts, so they needed a market for peanuts, so GWC set out to create a bunch of peanut- and peanut-oil-based products. That’s just the most famous example out of many; he spent his whole adult life doing this over and over.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What happened to society that we became afraid of a piece of paper? Like a write up at school or job, or a ticket, or a bill we know we can pay (but won't let us live 1 luxury) lincenses and others?byℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.net
7 daysWe moved to an information economy. It’s not just paper, it’s information.
Is this what I’m doing wrong? I hate telling strangers my name.
I don’t believe in an afterlife.
If I could design a system it would be reincarnation with intact memory.
Yes, many times. Good for roasting especially.
Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think about AI generated adult videos and AI love relationships?byℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.net
8 daysTwo very different things.
AI porn doesn’t need to exploit real people and is, as you say, a boon to those with impractical fetishes.
AI “relationships” are basically a mental health crisis.
Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was the bigger change and why, 2026 vs 2006, or 2006 vs 1986.byℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.net
9 daysLemme put it this way: In 2006 we were already reading comics, listening to music, and watching video via computers and the Internet.
In 2006 there was already an “alt-right” but they called themselves “Tea Party”.
In 2006 we had Wikipedia and YouTube and cell phones and speech-to-text.
I love it. It’s exciting! It’s colorful and reverant and steeped in tradition. It’s a strong memory to mark a transition from one phase of life to the next.
But I’m the kind of person who always wants to seize once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Who checks every mysterious door on the off chance that today it’s unlocked.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most disgusting thing you've ever put in your mouth?byℕ𝕖𝕞𝕠@slrpnk.net
10 daysOh! This happened last week. It was a mocktail featuring iced matcha and espresso foam. It reminded me of the most disgusting thing that’s ever gone into my mouth by accident.
