It feels like these are for fruits (e.g., peaches, apples) and/or vegetables (e.g. tomatoes, cucumber), a lovely meal that may be wet fresh to be dried/opened to the refreshing air!

You are correct. These are fruit bowls for ripening. This page (scrolled down a bit) presents a similar design:
I can only recommend this design, and ceramic in general, for fruit ripening.

I was thinking for presentation you would be slicing things like peaches and nectarines so they would drip. Nobody’s serving up whole large stone fruit in a fancy bowl for a meal.
I think it’s more like the classical still live with different fruit piled up in a bowl.

These things are maybe 5 or 6 inches in diameter. As an artist, I wouldn’t definitely not pick this for a a still life of fruit in a bowl since you’d be lucky to get three pieces of uncut fruit in it. And these are definitely display pieces, not storage so I can’t picture someone putting a whole peaches or nectarines in one of these for presentation.

Letting water sit on soft fruit will speed up the process of them getting mushy and gross. So you wash them, put them in these, and the air circulates to help dry them off and they keep a little longer. I wouldn’t try these with blueberries, but it looks like they’d work for strawberries, cherries, small apricots, etc. the lack of a hole in the bottom is probably because they’re not for actively straining things. The size is probably about right for a single pint.

My mom had something similar to this for serving dinner rolls. You put a cloth napkin in the bottom, draped over the sides and all, then put in the rolls, then wrap the cloth napkin around them to hold the steam and warm.
Idk if thats what yours are for, but could be.

Shaping tortilla wraps into bowls. Cook them in that for a few minutes to make a shell

Its hard to tell the scale but they could be useful for separating egg yolks from whites. But the fact that there are two gives me the impression that theyre bigger and not intended for egg seperation lol

Egg separation might be an actual legitimate use for these things. The holes are about exactly the right size to let whites through but no yolks. But I can’t imagine a bowl without a hole in the center for that purpose.

These are obviously intended to be serving bowls and I can’t think of any whole fruit or vegetable that we would be put in a bowl for presentation. These gaps are so large that a grape would fall right through them.

I’m thinking closer to zucchini or acorn squash sized vegetables; but maybe a serving bowl would work too?
Then again it might be a multipurpose dish; like this thing:

15 daysOh, the scale isn’t apparent from the photo. I was thinking these were more like 10 inches in diameter. In that case, yeah, no clue.
They look more like lids to a container that you want to let air in but protect otherwise, like for fruit or something.

These are berry bowls, Google it and you’ll see many similar bowls.
They come in different sizes, as do berries. Maybe you can put a banana for scale, which is also a berry so you would fulfill the bowls purpose

Auxiliary support for rather flimsy disposable paper bowls? I’ve seen the same for paper plates in a flatter format.
