I have no idea what this would mean in practice.

5 daysThe article brings it up too, but I suspect this actually means streaming games. I can see it sort of making sense where you already own a digital library and via some subscription, can stream those games to specific devices.

Isn’t this what Xbox tried and failed to do a few years back? And Google Stadia?

PS streaming from your own console works very well now. I have played games without noticable lag 1000+ kms from my home on my PS Portal

I believe, the Playstation implementation streams from your console, so primarily good for in-home streaming…

4 daysIt doesn’t need to be subscription. The Playstation Portal can already stream your local machine and library beyond living room with a seemless experience. So maybe they plan on doing a Wii U inspired setup by default?

man just release another better version of the PSP/Vita. those things were awesome.

I don’t give much of a shit about the article, but that title… that quote is dripping with sleaze. Like slop off the snout of a freshly fed pig. Absolutely greasy.

4 daysIt depends how you look at it. Will it be similar to Steam Deck and primarily a handheld with a docking station? That’s hardly a new concept. What makes the Switch different is, that the system and games have a dedicated docking mode that is different in performance and settings from handheld mode. Or will it be a Wii U with a stationary console and a tablet? There are already experiments with the Playstation Portal that can already stream your PS5 games (and later probably PS6) beyond the living room.

5 daysHigh-res touchscreens and batteries are cheap. Silicon, processors, and memory are expensive. I expect to see a ton of these “handhelds” in the next few years
