  • Because why should I? If I take the time to post and it’s automatically removed without any explanation, why is the onus on me? It’s tiresome taking the time to post and then being faced with “robot says no.”

As for mentioning it, the comment is no longer about the post, but just a general observation on the tedious hoops you have to jump through online, which I thought was as worthy as any other general gripe.

Also, the guy’s comment was obnoxious so my response was equally pithy.

I use the Samsung keyboard on my phone and often use Samsung Writing Assist because my spelling is genuinely awful.

I do most of my browsing and commenting through the Boost app on my phone, so having a quick way to correct spelling and grammar before posting seemed handy.

The problem is most of my writing seems to triggertheir twitchy Appropriateness Overloard. It frequently refuses to check perfectly ordinary comments because it decides they contain “inappropriate content”.

In every case, all I’m asking for is a spelling and grammar check. I never use it to rewrite what I’ve written or make my arguments more persuasive. I want my own words, just without the embarrassing mistakes.

The moderation feels wildly overreactive, almost puritanical. It seems incapable of distinguishing between helping someone write clearly and helping them produce harmful content.

If my comment contained abuse, threats or hate speech, fair enough. But refusing to spell-check an ordinary political opinion because it mentions things like “left wing”, “right wing” or “Prime Minister” is absurd.

Surely there has to be a middle ground where AI can correct spelling and grammar without acting as the morality gestapo.

Has anyone found a good alternative on Android? I don’t need an AI ghostwriter—I just need something that will reliably correct my shitty spelling and grammar without deciding whether my opinions are acceptable first.
