Sad to see Reddit-style automods creeping in. I got so sick of jumping through their arbitrary rules on that God-awful platform. Lemmy had been a breath of fresh air for the year or so I’ve been here. However, nothing lasts, it seems.
If you want engagement, then get the bots to chill, or maybe just don’t use them.
It’s on an instance/community basis dude, and everything is community hosted and not centralized.
Sometimes, it’s better to find another comm that suits the atmosphere you prefer. If an accidental automod flagged you, appeal it, since it’s a human on the other end of review and not a corpo employee. People get overwhelmed, so they need a bot janitor to sometimes clean up messes.
Ask for one. You’re a person with the ability to communicate. Use it
And ask them to update the bot to add reasons in the future. Feedback for that stuff is actually useful

Then, why even bother mentioning it? Not trolling, it’s a real question: if it’s not worth you asking the concerned person their motivation/reasoning, what interest is there for you in sharing it online with random people like myself?
Because why should I? If I take the time to post and it’s automatically removed without any explanation, why is the onus on me? It’s tiresome taking the time to post and then being faced with “robot says no.”
As for mentioning it, the comment is no longer about the post, but just a general observation on the tedious hoops you have to jump through online, which I thought was as worthy as any other general gripe.
Also, the guy’s comment was obnoxious so my response was equally pithy.
Benefit of the doubt. Is it not better to start a dialogue even if it’s as a community feedback?
We all live here. I know it’s easy to go yeh nah and winge instead(I do this 😀) but that would have probs been an easier step than creating a post.

I’m pretty-well lost here. So OP was complaining in a post to Technology that some kind of writing tool wasn’t working on a comment? And somehow that triggered the automod to delete?
But… for what reason, exactly?
